One of Scarlett Johansson‘s best sci-fi movies is headed to Netflix in October, and it will arrive on the streaming service ahead of the star’s new genre entry, also coming to Netflix. Johansson is a major name in the sci-fi genre. Among Johansson’s best movies are multiple sci-fi entries, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself, the franchise she played Black Widow for several years in, being ruled by sci-fi elements even though it is a superhero universe first and foremost. Recently, Johansson joined another of the biggest sci-fi movie franchises of all time, becoming one of the leads of Jurassic World Rebirth.

Johannson took over the dinosaur franchise’s reins from her MCU co-star Chris Pratt, who led the first Jurassic World trilogy in the role of Owen Grady. Johansson’s The Prestige Is Set To Put A Spell On Netflix Next Week

Johansson’s The Prestige is set to arrive on Netflix in the United States on October 1. It is one of the many new titles coming to the streaming service at the start of next month. Other new arrivals on Netflix on the same day include major movies and franchises like both Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum Jump Street movies, Brad Pitt’s sci-fi Ad Astra, all five Jason Bourne movies from the Matt Damon spy thriller franchise, Timothée Chalamet’s romance Call Me by Your Name, Robert Pattinson’s entire Twilight movie franchise, Ben Affleck’s Pearl Harbor, and many more.

The Prestige follows Hugh Jackman as Robert Angier and Christian Bale as Alfred Borden, two dueling magicians who go insane over one-upping the other with teleportation illusions. Johansson gives life to Olivia Wenscombe in Nolan’s sci-fi thriller, with her character being the stage assistant to both Angier and Borden at different times of the movie. The Prestige has a solid chance of becoming a Netflix smash hit, as not only does it pack a star-studded cast, but it also follows Nolan’s success this year with The Odyssey, as well as boasting a near-perfect 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Streaming Debut Comes At The Perfect Time

The Prestige‘s Netflix release on October 1 could not have been timed better, as the movie will help prepare subscribers for the release of Johansson’s new sci-fi film, which happens to be a Netflix Original movie. That project is Ray Gunn, the animated sci-fi noir that just had its first trailer released this Wednesday, September 23. Ray Gunn stars Johansson as the femme fatale Venus Nova, who is right at the center of the movie’s crime mystery.

Ray Gunn’s world premiere will happen at the 70th BFI London Film Festival on October 10, just a little after the release of The Prestige on Netflix. After that, Ray Gunn will experience a limited theatrical release on December 4, before finally arriving on Netflix on December 18. As such, The Prestige will come to the streamer right before Johansson’s next sci-fi movie takes over Netflix.
