Vieira to join Porto permanently?

Portuguese giants Porto are keen on landing Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira on a permanent basis this summer, according to Jornal de Noticias.

The Portuguese playmaker rejoined Porto on loan last summer after falling out of favour with the Gunners. He has fared impressively as a central midfielder, contributing five goals and five assists.

Porto president Andre Villas-Boas has been impressed by the progress made by the 24-year-old. He had a slow start to the campaign but his form has been good during the second half of the league season.

Villa-Boas is now planning to meet with the representatives at Arsenal and a permanent move could be discussed. Arsenal signed Vieira for £34m and may have to cut their losses to sanction a summer exit.

However, the club may still want a decent figure. They could hold out for at least £25m which would represent a record fee for Porto. Nico Gonzalez is their record acquisition for around £18m.
