Wood’s international five-wicket hauls all came in Tests. He finished with five five-wicket innings, with his best individual figures being 6/37 against Australia in Hobart in January 2022.

His best figures in ODIs were 4/33 against Australia, recorded at Birmingham in June 2017. He never took a five-wicket haul in 50-over cricket, but his 80 wickets came at an economy rate of 5.58.
In T20Is, Wood’s best figures were 3/9. He took 54 wickets in 38 matches, with a strike rate of 14.3 according to the supplied career statistics.
Wood’s World Cup contribution
Wood’s international career also included two major tournament triumphs.
He was part of England’s 2019 ODI World Cup-winning team, taking 18 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 25.72. His pace made him an important component of England’s attack during their successful campaign.

Wood made his Test debut against New Zealand at Lord’s in May 2015, beginning an international career that would eventually span 146 appearances. His final Test came against Australia in Perth in November 2025.
His final ODI appearance came against Afghanistan in Lahore on February 26, 2025, while his last T20I was against India at Wankhede Stadium on February 2, 2025.
After persistent injury problems, Wood announced his retirement from international cricket on September 22, 2026.
