Manchester United have been handed a boost in signing Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, with Chelsea pulling out of the race.
Senesi is widely expected to leave the Cherries when his contract expires on June 30. He has been linked with multiple clubs, and Matteo Moretto recently claimed that his agents are in contact with United and Chelsea.
The Blues have not ended their interest in the Argentina international as they prefer a more physical centre-back, who is also much younger. The club are eyeing an ideal partner for Levi Colwill ahead of next season.
As a result, United have been handed the upper hand in the pursuit of the 28-year-old, who could be seen as a proper deputy for Lisandro Martinez in the left centre-back position.
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are also keen on landing the former Feyenoord man, but he could be tempted to stay in the Premier League with the Red Devils next season.
