Jumanji 4: Open World – Final Installment Revealed with Robin Williams Tribute

The title and plot for the highly anticipated Jumanji 4 film have finally been released.

During CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Monday, Sony revealed that the fourth and final installment in the franchise will be titled Jumanji: Open World. Convention-goers were also treated to footage from the film, which featured clips from the first two movies, as the teaser indicated that “the game comes home” in this final installment. The footage opens with a character commenting on what he calls an old video game console before the world around them begins to shift. Danny DeVito’s character gathers the group at a diner, where they’re introduced to Dwayne Johnson’s Dr. Bravestone, sitting in a booth and speaking in a surprising Spanish accent.

Kevin Hart soon joins, questioning the mission, as it’s revealed that the video game characters are somehow stuck in “demo mode.” Karen Gillan and Jack Black reappear, and once outside, the group encounters the Jumanji tour guide again. The action quickly ramps up, with the characters moving like video game avatars as they race through both the jungle and the real world. Chaos spills into reality, with massive animals like lizards and rhinos appearing, while Bravestone hilariously struggles to drive on a highway. At one point, Johnson and Hart argue in Spanish, adding to the comedic tone, while Black is seen riding a Segway. The footage emphasizes that the fate of Jumanji rests in their hands before revealing the title Jumanji: Open World, ending with the characters heading back into the game.

The third in the set of films starring Johnson, Hart, Black, and Gillan, Jumanji: Open World will also feature a nod to the man who started it all: the late Robin Williams, with Johnson telling audiences at CinemaCon that there’s an Easter egg in every single scene in the new film: one half of the original dice used in the first film will be used in Jumanji: Open World. Black, meanwhile, who was also on hand at the convention, told attendees he’s “never had so much fun” working on a movie.

Often referred to as Jumanji 3, or the fourth in the overall series, Jumanji: Open World has long been planned as the final movie in the current trilogy, with Johnson previously confirming the news in November 2025 when production began, as well as the special way the film would honor Williams.

This is the dice from the original Jumanji with Robin Williams as a show of respect and a way of honoring Robin and this entire franchise that he started as we film our very last Jumanji.

The film was originally set to be released on December 11, but in March, it was announced that the release date had been moved to Christmas Day, fueling a battle at the box office, with Dune: Part Three and Avengers Doomsday releasing just a week prior on December 18.

This isn’t the first Christmas released in the Jumanji franchise, though, with the 1995 classic being released on December 15 of that year. 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released in theaters on December 20 and grossed over $960 million worldwide. And now, it seems the fourth movie will aim to replicate that Christmas magic.

In addition to the original cast, it has been reported that Nick Jonas will be reprising his role as Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough in Jumanji 4. Bebe Neuwirth, Lamorne Morris, Marin Hinkle, and Rhys Darby will also be returning for the sequel, with new additions Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes joining the cast.
