Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed a blow in the pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott this summer, as per Standard Sport.
The English ace had a terrific campaign with the Cherries in the Premier League as they finished sixth in the standings.
Despite this, he is keen to pursue a bigger challenge. Arsenal and United have held an interest, but Chelsea are in pole position.
The Blues recently failed with a £64m offer for the young midfielder, and reports claim Scott wants to join the west London giants.
The news is a setback for the Gunners and Red Devils, who have earmarked Scott as a potential addition in the heart of their midfield.
Arsenal have identified Bruno Guimaraes as the other prime target, but they have yet to persuade Newcastle United to sanction his sale.
United have already signed Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, but they are eyeing another marquee midfielder before the deadline.
