Aston Villa agree loan deal for Chelsea flop following Rogers’ deal

Aston Villa have agreed to sign Alejandro Garnacho on an initial loan deal from Chelsea.

According to multiple reports, the two Premier League clubs have reached an agreement on a temporary deal that will become permanent if certain conditions are met.

Should the deal be made permanent, the 22-year-old will sign a four-year contract at Villa Park.

The news comes after Chelsea confirmed the signing of England attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers from Villa in a deal worth £117million, a record for a British player.

Garnacho’s arrival represents a gamble by Villa, whose squad has already changed significantly from the one that won the Europa League and finished fourth in the Premier League last season, securing a return to the Champions League.

In addition to Rogers, star midfielder Youri Tielemans departed for Manchester United, with Villa bringing in midfielder Joao Gomes and Switzerland World Cup star Johan Manzambi.

Garnacho, a Copa America winner in 2024, was not at the World Cup, having endured an underwhelming season with Chelsea following his move from Manchester United.

He scored just one goal and provided four assists in 24 Premier League appearances as the Blues limped to a 10th-place finish. Garnacho scored eight goals across all competitions.

However, Villa boss Unai Emery seemingly believes he can get the best out of Garnacho. For a side looking to continue on an upward trajectory after losing their prized asset, it is very important he is proven correct.
