Carrick on Casemiro absence

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has revealed that Casemiro was sidelined for the goalless Premier League draw against Sunderland on the road due to a minor injury.

The Red Devils played out their first goalless draw of the league campaign at the Stadium of Light. They had a difficult outing on Wearside, but had a couple of big chances to win the game at the end.

Speaking after the game, Carrick revealed the reason behind Casemiro’s surprise absence. He said on the Brazilian: “Case, he’ll be fine for next week, it’s nothing major.”

The Red Devils have already qualified for the Champions League this term. They are currently on 65 points, and the focus should be on winning their remaining games to hit the 70-point mark.

Casemiro is poised to return for the final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest. He will want to end on a high before leaving on a free transfer. His contract expires on June 30.
