With just weeks to go until Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters, one of Tom Holland’s first films as Spider-Man is surging up the streaming charts.
Tom Holland’s first appearance as the fan-favorite superhero came in Captain America: Civil War. He then had his own trilogy of solo Spider-Man films, beginning with Spider-Man: Homecoming and continuing with Far From Home and No Way Home.
Now Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was just added to Netflix on July 1, is climbing Netflix’s streaming chart, where it’s currently sitting at No. 3 (as of Friday, July 3) behind Enola Holmes 3 and Little Brother.
Voicemails for Isabelle, The Boss Baby, Maternal Instinct, Gone Girl, Minions: The Rise of Gru, A Dog’s Purpose and Despicable Me 3 round out the Top 10.
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Venom: The Last Dance and Kraven the Hunter are also available to stream on Netflix.
After appearing in Captain America: Civil War, Holland made his proper MCU debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was released in 2017. Directed by Jon Watts, the film centers on Peter Parker’s life as a high school student while trying to hide his identity as Spider-Man. He leans on his mentor, Tony Stark/Iron Man, for help as he battles the Vulture.
Aside from Holland, Spider-Man: Homecoming also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton and Donald Glover, with Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, Chris Evans and Gwyneth Paltrow making appearances as their MCU characters Tony Stark, Happy Hogan, Steve Rogers/Captain America and Pepper Potts, respectively.
After grossing $880.9 million at the box office and earning a Certified Fresh score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, Marvel Studios moved forward with a sequel, but first, Holland returned to the MCU via Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019 sees Peter Parker and his classmates travel to Europe, but Nick Fury and Quentin Beck upend the school trip with major plans for the superhero.
Samuel L. Jackson returned to the MCU as Nick Fury, along with Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill and Favreau’s Happy. The sequel earned $1.32 billion and overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics, with a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score.
The trilogy ended in 2021 with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which deals with the aftermath of Spider-Man’s real identity being exposed in Far From Home.
Peter is desperate to change his unfortunate circumstances, but after seeking Dr. Strange’s help, the multiverse leads to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man entering the picture, along with the villains Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Lizard and Electro. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil also makes an appearance.
Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is the highest-grossing Spider-Man film at $1.92 billion, ends with the shocking decision by Peter to have everyone forget who he is. This will lead into Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which marks the start of a new arc for the superhero as he navigates his new anonymous life.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in theaters on Friday, July 31, 2026.
