The Moonlit Stalker Officially Unveiled

George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones universe is officially back with House of the Dragon’s third season, but the latest chapter in HBO’s adaptation of his beloved Fire & Blood novel has proven to be quite divisive. While the series continues to draw praise for its blockbuster production values, epic dragon battles, and powerhouse performances, many longtime fans have questioned several of the show’s departures from Martin’s source material.

Despite various controversies over changes from the books, one thing House of the Dragon continues to deliver on is expanding Westeros’ rich dragon lore. And alongside HOTD’s Season 3, fans are being introduced to another awesome dragon with “unparalleled stealth and precision,” The Moonlit Stalker, which you can check out now in Dragonfire.

Tairax, The Moonlit Stalker, is one of the newest dragons added to Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, continuing Warner Bros. Games’ post-launch releases that have been regularly expanding the game’s dragon lineup. Since launch, Dragonfire has introduced both iconic dragons from House of the Dragon, such as Tessarion and Sunfyre, and original dragons designed exclusively for the game.

These new dragons are featured with unique Commands, Habits, troop affinities, and battlefield roles, and are typically accompanied by a dedicated “Dragon Pit” profile outlining their lore, gameplay role, Command ability, and passive Habits.

Unlike legendary Targaryen dragons from George R.R. Martin’s canon, Tairax is an original Dragonfire release, only available in the game. Nicknamed “The Moonlit Stalker,” she is described with “shimmering scales [that] melt into the night sky, allowing her to move unseen, like a whisper gliding on a breeze.”

From a gameplay perspective, Tairax is built around an ambush and debuff-oriented playstyle. Rather than overwhelming enemies with raw power, she specializes in precision attacks, weakening opponents and creating openings for allied dragons.

One of her most fabled escapades was a game of hide-and-seek with the children of the Vale, orchestrated by her playful rider, Lady Lyra. This dragon hid in impossible places, and when she revealed herself at last, it was with a burst of fire that etched a wondrous sigil into the grass: a gift, not a threat.

As with every Dragonfire dragon, her kit revolves around a signature Command that activates during combat and a series of unlockable passive Habits that become more powerful as players increase her Star Rank. These abilities can be upgraded permanently using Breedmarks and Rarity Cores, allowing Tairax to become increasingly effective across future Reigns.

While Dragonfire already features nearly 30 dragons and continues to add more regularly, Tairax stands out by introducing an entirely new piece of dragon lore and changing up the mix with a stealth approach that is pretty rare among Targaryan dragons, giving players another exclusive dragon that can’t be found elsewhere in the Game of Thrones universe.
