Per The Numbers, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple earned $2.1 million at the domestic box office during its Thursday night preview screenings. This has allowed it to become the first movie to topple Avatar: Fire and Ash (which grossed $1.48 million on Thurdsday) from No. 1 on the daily chart.

Fire and Ash held its streak at No. 1 for 27 full days, spanning from its debut on December 19 through Wednesday, January 15. Fittingly, The Bone Temple has prevented the movie from extending that streak to 28 days.
