Jujutsu Kaisen is filled with powerful characters, and that can be seen in the series’ main cast of heroes. Though many of the series’ sorcerers are still learning and coming into their own power, each of the main characters is a powerhouse capable of manipulating their cursed energy to tremendous effect.
Still, among the main heroes, there is a question of who is the strongest. While initial appearances might suggest an easy answer, the complex web of powers and abilities keeps things interesting.
7
Nobara Kugisaki
Grade 3
Nobara might be the weakest member of the series’ core cast, but that’s only because her competition are almost universally once-in-a-generation talents.
Nobara’s signature ability is her use of a hammer, nails, and a straw doll. In an effect similar to popular depictions of Voodoo dolls, Nobara can stick needles in her straw doll to inflict massive damage on any opponent.
Unfortunately, despite some impressive achievements, Nobara hasn’t realized her full potential yet in Jujutsu Kaisen’s anime. Though she could be ridiculously strong one day, the ceiling on her power is still unclear. With Nobara’s fate in Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 ambiguous, fans are left wondering about what could have been with her strength.
6
Maki Zenin
Grade 4
Maki Zenin has no right to be as strong as she is.
Born a non-sorcerer, Maki is one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s few characters to make a Heavenly Pact. Despite have very little cursed energy, the Heavenly Pact enhances Maki’s physical abilities, making her fast, strong, and quite hardy.
Maki was strong enough to survive Jogo’s flames, and that’s no small achievement.
Gojo even agreed that Maki should be a Grade 2 Sorcerer. Unfortunately, despite her many skills and abilities, pressure from the Zenin clan kept Maki a Grade 4.
5
Megumi Fushiguro
Grade 2
Megumi never really got the time to shine that he deserved.
Despite the strength of his summoned spirits and the fact that he’s the first of Gojo’s new set of pupils to unlock Domain Expansion, Megumi just hasn’t been in a fight where he can really show off his talents and abilities.
Fans might call Megumi one of anime’s biggest frauds, but he is canonically quite strong.
Hopefully, fans will get to see a bit more of Megumi in action during Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 so Toji Fushiguro’s son can finally beat the fraud allegations.
4
Aoi Todo
Grade 1 Sorcerer
Aoi Todo ranks among Jujutsu Kaisen’s most ridiculous characters, but fortunately for Jujutsu High, he can back that up with ridiculous power.
At the height of his strength, Todo is capable of incredible feats. He and Yuji are able to work together to defeat one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s strongest Cursed Spirits, Hanami, something impressive for two high-schoolers.
Unfortunately, while Todo at his prime was powerful, he lost access to his strongest tool in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shibuya Incident. Since he lost his hand, Todo is unable to use his signature Boogie Woogie technique that lets him switch places with an ally.
While it’s unclear if Todo’s Boogie Woogie is gone in Jujutsu Kaisen, it might take him some time to figure out a new way to use it.
Still, with or without Boogie Woogie, Todo is a fearsome sorcerer and an absolute monster. His physical strength is unreasonable, and he can leverage that to incredible effect.
3
Yuji Itadori
Unranked
Yuji Itadori started Jujutsu Kaisen with a few things going for him. He was already unusually fast and strong, hinting at the deep well of cursed energy coursing through him.
By the time of Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, however, Yuji’s potential is finally starting to be realized.
Itadori spent a great deal of time essentially farming Cursed Spirits, heightening his abilities and giving him a bit more experience.
Perhaps the greatest testament to Yuji’s abilities is that he’s alive at all. Though a great deal of that is due to the intervention of powerful forces like Sukuna and Gojo, a lot of it is down to Yuji himself. Few other sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen have the sheer grit and determination of Yuji.
Though he might not be Jujutsu Kaisen’s most powerful sorcerer by season 3, his explosive potential makes him a great candidate for stealing the title in the future.
2
Yuta Okkotsu
Special Grade
Initially a shy boy afraid of his own abilities, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 protagonist Yuta Okkotsu is nothing short of a beast.
Yuta’s ridiculous pools of cursed energy alone make him more than qualified to destroy pretty much any sorcerer he goes against.
Enhancing Yuta’s abilities is his bond with the Cursed Spirit Rika. A former childhood friend, Rika is intensely protective of Yuta and is willing to kill or maim anyone who would hurt her dearly beloved.
In addition to his incredible offensive capabilities, Yuta can also manipulate his cursed energy to heal people.
Yuta is the whole package, but unfortunately, he just can’t compete against his master.
1
Satoru Gojo
Special Grade
Sometimes, the most obvious answer is the correct one. It is stated multiple times that Gojo is Jujutsu Kaisen’s strongest character, and he absolutely lives up to the hype.
With Gojo’s Six Eyes, Limitless, and Hollow techniques, he has the perfect combination of offense and defense. Opponents can only ever get infinitely close to hurting Gojo, but can never actually touch him, making him difficult to even damage.
Gojo is so ridiculously powerful that the main plot of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Shibuya Incident is centered around removing him from the equation so that other characters can continue their plans without him in the way.
Gojo’s strength is so legendary that even the series’ creator, Gege Akutami, found the character restricting. Gojo is simply the strongest of Jujutsu Kaisen’s main characters, and his only competition for the strongest character period is the King of Curses himself, Sukuna.
