Thanos and Knull’s First Encounter Teased by Marvel

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Knull #1Marvel is teasing a major encounter between two of the movies’ most powerful villains. While Thanos and Knull belong to separate movie universes, they’ve never met on the page either…until now.

Without a doubt, Thanos is one of the most powerful villains we’ve ever seen in the MCU. Likewise, the most powerful villain we’ve seen yet in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is easily Knull aka the King in Black. Now, Marvel Comics is finally bringing these iconic foes together on the page thanks to its brand-new Knull series.

Knull’s Marvel Comics Return Will Include An Encounter With Thanos

Knull #1 comes from Al Ewing, Tom Waltz, and Juanan Ramirez, revealing a revived Knull after Eddie Brock recently lost the King in Black title. Apparently, the God of the Void is resurrected by default when there is no King in Black. However, Knull is confirmed to be far weaker than he once was.

As revealed in this first issue, Knull was the captive of Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death, who’s been siphoning his power to crown herself as the new Queen in Black. Although the issue sees Knull eventually escaping, he’s unaware that Hela engineered his freedom so he can grow stronger again (allowing her to take even more power).

All that being said, it’s the final page of Knull #1 that delivers the real surprise when Hela reveals she’s going to call Thanos (her ex-lover) to “shepherd” Knull, thereby setting up the first major encounter between the Mad Titan and the King in Black.

Will Thanos and Knull Become Allies…Or Enemies?

Knull and Thanos Live-Action

Currently, the details behind Thanos’s “shepherding” of Knull remain unclear. Perhaps Thanos could present himself as an ally to Knull while secretly aiding Hela. However, the Mad Titan could also be positioned as a major rival designed to push Knull into becoming even more powerful.

Either option promises a spectacular clash and would likely be advantageous for Hela. Regardless, the opportunity to see Thanos and Knull sharing the page for the first time is a very exciting and major first, bringing together two of the most powerful villains in the entire Marvel Universe, both on the page and on the screen.
