Steam Makes Hit Single-Player RPG 100% Free For 24 Hours

Steam is currently offering a hit single-player RPG at 100% off, but interested players will need to move fast, as the promotional period will only last 24 more hours. There are tons of free options on the platform, from remarkable demos to some outstanding free-to-play games. However, it’s also very common to see some games being offered at 100% discounts on Steam for a limited time, prompting players to act quickly so as to enjoy the promo.

This is the case with a new RPG that was released earlier this year and is already being offered for free for a limited time. As part of a free weekend event, the single-player RPG on Steam can be played until May 17, no strings attached. All you have to do is head on over to its product page, download it, and play it. The trial period will end on the aforementioned date, and if you want to continue playing, you’ll have to purchase the full version of the game.

The free RPG in question is called Greedfall: The Dying World on Steam. Released in March this year, this is the newest installment in the Greedfall franchise. Like the first game, this is a narrative-driven single-player game. Depending on how much you play it, the free trial will allow you to experience a large portion of the game, though it is expected that you won’t be able to wrap up the campaign in these final hours of the free weekend.

This is because the game can take around 52 hours to beat, according to HowLongToBeat. As such, if you want to finish the story after starting it in the free trial, you may need to purchase it – luckily, the free new RPG on Steam is being offered at a 30% discount until May 27. The major free weekend trial is surprising, considering the game was released about two months ago, but it does allow players who hadn’t heard of it to check it out.

Greedfall: The Dying World is a single-player real-time RPG with pause, allowing you to make strategic choices during combat. In it, you’ll control a custom-made character, and make decisions that will mold your adventure. You can either engage in combat or try diplomacy, and establish bonds to recruit new allies and, potentially, a partner. There’s a lot to do in this new RPG released in 2026.

The free trial period for Greedfall: The Dying World should give you a good sense of how the game works and feels, and should be particularly better than a simple demo, as it is the full experience.
