Combining the politics of Game of Thrones with the sci-fi setting of the Star Wars franchise, this upcoming visual novel will see you stick to your morals and ideologies as you become the first president of a fallen empire. Under your rule, the galaxy may finally flourish once more.
Developed by ben_cardino, Pax Astra is a political simulation/visual novel/RPG space opera with 4X elements inspired by Suzerain and Stellaris. Set to launch in Q1 of 2027, the upcoming title will see you select your chosen ideology and follow it to the stars as you shape the nation and the galaxy and become the leader you have always wanted to be.
In Pax Astra, you’re free to follow any ideology, adopt any strategy, and chart your own path to power. Manage politics, elections, crises, the economy, foreign relations, and more. Build an interdimensional exploration program, venture beyond the known galaxy, or delve into forbidden science.
Whether you become a principled democrat or a ruthless dictator, the choice is entirely yours, but in Pax Astra, being a democrat, a socialist, a libertarian, a fascist, or a communist is just the beginning, as your true goal is to rule a nation set amongst the stars. Despite having total freedom to make whichever decisions you see fit, you cannot forget that the fate of the entire galaxy rests in your hands, and every choice has consequences.
As the first elected President of Altara, you take to the throne amongst the ruins of a stunning defeat. Once a sprawling empire, built on supremacy and conquest, you are now the president of dust, but now that the war is over, it is up to you to deal with the lasting effects: “economic collapse, political instability, and a population desperate for direction.”
With a nation broken in both spirit and wealth, you must navigate a volatile political landscape, rife with competing factions, hidden agendas, and ideological conflict.
Although Altara begins as a fragile democracy, nothing is guaranteed. Power can be reshaped, systems can be torn down, and if you have the will — and the support — you can push the state toward more extreme forms of government.
In Pax Astra, gameplay will consist of orchestrating coups and power seizures, dealing with threats from beyond the galaxy, exploring unknown space, colonizing distant planets, engaging in wars and building industries, to name just a few features. So, if you are looking for a political sim that combines the court conflicts of Game of Thrones with the galaxy-bending saga of Star Wars, look no further than Pax Astra, which is now available to check out for free courtesy of a Steam demo.
