Red Dead Redemption 2, Jurassic Park Collide In New Hunting Game

Red Dead Redemption 2 really did capture lightning in a bottle when it dropped all the way back in 2018, as Rockstar took players on a narrative journey in the West like nothing they had seen before or since. As such, it’s little surprise that many games that have come since have tried to capture even a small slice of that same magic, to varying degrees of success.

Others take a bit more of an abstract approach, including one new release that, although it has shades of Red Dead, brings in so many other elements that it really could end up being a game like no other.

Anyone who has played Red Dead Redemption 2 for any period of time will know that hunting animals is a big part of the game. From a lowly rabbit to much bigger, and more deadly, game, you’ll probably end up killing quite a few of our furry friends in your journey through the release.

If you do happen to be a fan of that element, new release Lost Ages Hunting could be right up your street. Essentially functioning as a hunting simulator, the game comes with one major twist that should make it a fairly unique experience. In explaining a little about what potential players might expect, the developer shared the following description:

“Lost Ages Hunting is a first-person hunting simulation where each era offers a completely different hunting experience. Hunt prehistoric dinosaurs, Ice Age creatures, modern wildlife, and other unique species across vast open environments.

“Travel through vast open environments inspired by realistic European mountain landscapes and hunt deadly creatures from different ages of history and imagination. Track prey, survive hostile conditions, collect trophies, and build your reputation as a legendary hunter.”

It’s that ability to hunt creatures through millions of years worth of history that should help the game to stand out, with the dinosaurs adding more than a little Turok or Jurassic Park to proceedings. You’ll be traversing forests, rivers, mountains and abandoned urban zones, all of which come with dynamic environmental conditions.

The only barrier to jumping straight in and checking it out for yourself is that the game isn’t out yet, though it does have a release window of 2027. The game will come to Early Access before that, though, and there is a demo available, so it’s worth keeping an eye on if it does sound like the kind of game you’d enjoy. In the meantime, why not go and get all those pelts you need in Red Dead Redemption 2.
