Sebastian Stan Finally Breaks Silence On Joining The Batman 2

Matt Reeves’ DC franchise will officially see the arrival of Sebastian Stan.

In a new interview with Deadline, the Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran finally opened up about joining The Batman – Part II, following his casting reports earlier in 2026. Stan stressed how the sequel will be “a challenge, like everything else. I feel like it’s a really ambitious movie and I think if we do it all right — and obviously I’m so excited about Matt Reeves [directing] because he’s been one of my favorites for a long, long time — I really think it’s going to blow people away. It’s going to surprise a lot of people, I think, too.”

Stan is reportedly playing Harvey Dent, per the trade, better known as Two-Face in the DC canon, but for the time being, the Academy Award-nominated star has yet to formally reveal if that’s who he is actually portraying. The Batman – Part II cast is set to start principal photography in June, as Reeves recently revealed that they are currently doing tests for the film.

The Batman – Part II story will also feature another major Marvel Studios star, as Scarlett Johansson has joined the sequel. The former Black Widow actor is rumored to be playing Gilda Dent, better known as Harvey’s wife in the comics.

Similar to reports of Stan playing Harvey, it has yet to be confirmed or denied if Johansson is playing Gilda. However, as Charles Dance has been cast in a role that is expected to be Harvey’s father, Christopher, it seems highly likely that the Dents will be part of the sequel.

It’s still unclear who the next main villain will be in The Batman universe, as Reeves, DC Studios, and Warner Bros. Discovery have been keeping that detail heavily under wraps. While Barry Keoghan is reportedly returning as the Joker, it’s unclear how big his role will be in the film.

After Reeves shared images of The Batman – Part II tests on May 7, there are a lot of theories that Mr. Freeze will be the next Batman antagonist to be introduced. One of the elements that is fueling the speculations is that the movie’s setting will take place during the winter.

Even though the winter setting has been confirmed by Reeves, no one has been tapped as Victor Fries at the time of this story’s publication. But once The Batman – Part II officially starts filming, more details are going to emerge, whether it’s officially from DC Studios or through inevitable set photos and videos.

The Batman – Part II is slated to open on October 1, 2027.
