Gears Of War: Reloaded Is A Historic Remaster

Gears of War: Reloaded is a historic release for the franchise. Although it’s just a remaster of its first game, it marks the first time a mainline Gears game has been playable on a PlayStation console.

This goes along with Microsoft’s recent trend away from console exclusivity, bucking a long-standing trend. It follows major Xbox releases like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to the PS5, bringing another beloved franchise to a wider audience.

Gears: Reloaded caused controversy earlier this summer, when its open beta’s technical issues left many feeling discouraged about the remaster. However, it’s been a while since that disappointing launch; there’s still a good chance that its connectivity and input latency issues could’ve been resolved by now.

Thankfully, if you have Game Pass, you have nothing to lose – the remaster is already free with your subscription. We’ll see how this Xbox classic holds up when it comes to modern platforms with the release of Gears of War: Reloaded on August 26 (or 27, depending on your region).
