Prime Video’s Spider-Noir Returns As Streaming Hit Ahead Of Nicolas Cage’s Next Spider-Man Release

Spider-Noir is back as a Prime Video streaming hit. There have been several Spider-Man adaptations over the years, but when it comes to live-action projects, most of them were movies. Famously, Tobey Maguire led a beloved Spider-Man movie trilogy directed by Sam Raimi before Andrew Garfield took over as Peter Parker for The Amazing Spider-Man duology and then Tom Holland assumed the role for the MCU Spider-Man franchise. Ever since he joined the Marvel Studios universe, Spider-Man has been thriving, with Holland’s 2026 return as the character, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, now the 3rd highest-grossing movie of all time.

While Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become a global box office hit, it does not stand as the first successful live-action Spider-Man appearance of the year, as that role falls to Spider-Noir. In the Prime Video superhero series, Nicolas Cage played a new version of Spider-Man Noir, aka Ben Reilly/The Spider, unrelated to his turn as the character in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The superhero story set to the tone of a classic detective noir came to lead Prime Video’s charts before falling off them. Now, Spider-Noir stands as Prime Video’s 10th most-watched TV show in the United States, returning to the chart.

Spider-Noir Returns As A Prime Video Hit After The End Of An Era

Earlier in August, an era ended for the superhero series. Spider-Noir managed to trend on Prime Video’s global TV show Top 10 for 76 days, according to FlixPatrol, before it finally dropped out of the chart on August 12. Since then, the live-action Spider-Man series has yet to find its way back to that coveted chart, and with no new episodes of the show confirmed for now, it might find a hard time doing so. That said, given how Spider-Noir is now back as a Prime Video hit in the United States, there is a chance that the show could find itself back on the global charts.

At the time of writing, Prime Video’s most-watched TV show in the United States is Alan Ritchson’s Reacher, which is airing new episodes of season 4 weekly. Spider-Noir also finds itself in the company of high-profile series like Ride or Die, Off Campus, Sterling Point, Every Year After, Elle, and more. Interestingly, most of those shows have already been renewed for new seasons, with many of them also having debuted in 2026, just like Spider-Noir. As such, the Prime Video noir series’ renewal chances just got a major boost. Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s theatrical success likely increased interest in the series.

Nicolas Cage Will Follow Spider-Noir With Another Spider-Man Release

Even if Spider-Noir ends up not being renewed, Cage’s time as a version of Spider-Man will not end with the 2026 release. After the animated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ended with Cage’s Spider-Man Noir being part of the team of Spider-Man variants who will help Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy rescue Miles Morales and defeat the Spot, the actor is set up to play a big role in the trilogy’s finale. While that version of Spider-Man Noir is not the same Cage plays in the live-action Spider-Noir, the 2027 movie will allow fans of the Prime Video series to get a similar experience.
