Nintendo Officially Drops New N64 Freebies, Yours To Claim Now

Nintendo has decades of history to draw upon at any given moment, and that can be tough to compete with when it comes to taking on The Big N. Even Mario alone is a massive franchise, but all the others have built-in fanbases, so whenever Nintendo is poised to re-release something, people are paying attention. Just look at the recent relaunch of the Virtual Boy.

While every generation has its fans, there’s still something special about the Nintendo 64. It helped usher in a completely new era of gaming with the original PlayStation and kicked off a longstanding tradition of innovation in 3D.

Now, you can relive the Nintendo 64 even more easily. As Nintendo just revealed on X, there are a few Nintendo 64 freebies for you to grab.

As a reminder, Nintendo recently launched the Nintendo Music app, which lets you listen to songs from select Nintendo games. It’s an official service for Nintendo Switch Online members, accessible on platforms such as mobile and PC.

Titled “Nintendo 64 Selects,” the playlist comprises “the very best tracks spanning Nintendo Music’s entire library of Nintendo 64 games.” Nintendo says the track order changes daily, and the opening salvo includes classics from Mario Kart 64, Ocarina of Time, and Star Fox 64. Screenshots of the games also adorn the playlist for each track.

It’s great timing, in a way, since Nintendo is poised to release Star Fox on the Switch 2 imminently, which is a remake of Star Fox 64. Then again, it’s never really a bad time to celebrate one of Nintendo’s most interesting console releases.
