Netflix’s returning crime thriller kicks off with a stellar Rotten Tomatoes score.
It has already been a strong year, creatively, for crime thrillers on Netflix. 2026 kicked off with The Rip, a crime thriller that reunited Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to tell the story of a drug bust that escalates unexpectedly. On the television side, Nemesis has drawn comparisons to Michael Mann’s Heat and has seen solid viewership growth.
The True Story Behind Ben Affleck & Matt Damon’s New Movie The Rip
The Rip, Netflix’s new cop thriller starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, is inspired by true events. But how much of the story really happened?
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 2 is the latest crime show to release on Netflix. It has debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with 83% based on 6 reviews. That number is likely to fluctuate as more reviews are added, considering that the new season debuted on May 27. But the score currently lines up with the first season, which is at 83% with 41 reviews counted.
Based on Holly Jackson’s 2019 novel, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 2 sees the return of Wednesday star Emma Myers as Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi. Pip is doing her best to navigate the fallout from the last cases she solved, which includes a vow to stay away from any new investigation. But with the trial of Max Hastings approaching, as well as another disappearance, Pip can’t move on quite as fast as she’d like.
Consisting of six episodes, the show’s returning cast also includes Henry Ashton, Jude Morgan-Collie, Eden H Davies, Zain Iqbal, Asha Banks, Yali Topol Margalith, and Freddie England. It’s adapted for the screen by the author Jackson and Poppy Cogan, who also serve as executive producers.
ScreenRant‘s review of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 2 is mixed, with writer Liz Hersey noting that the adaptation wastes Myers’ talents overall. But on the positive side, it’s mentioned that the six episodes serve as an upgrade when compared to the source material. It’s likewise noted that the season’s villain is very watchable.

Jasneet Singh’s review of the season for Collider is more broadly positive, mentioning how the adaptation finds its stride and approaches the narrative with more confidence. Myers is also praised as the anchor that ably holds the crime thriller together all the way to A Good Girl’s Guide‘s season 2 ending.
In the coming weeks and months, there will be a chance to see how subscribers react to the Netflix Original. As of now, there is no audience score. But viewership will be crucial in determining whether A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 3 gets greenlit.
