Amidst full-blown horror releases like The East Palace and airy romances like Dream to You, Netflix’s Spooky in Love recently came in with the best of both worlds, bringing an early chill to the Summer 2026 season. Hyped as a long-overdue successor to Hotel Del Luna even before its release, Spooky in Love completely took audiences by storm, so much so that it even has its own webtoon adaptation now.

That said, regardless of the initial momentum, a K-drama is only as good as its ending and its entire run. On that note, it just so happens that Spooky in Love just dropped its final two episodes, and now that the series is finally complete, it’s the perfect time to binge it over the weekend.

Netflix’s Spooky Love Sticks the Landing With Its Grand Finale

Spooky in Love dropped its final episode on August 23, 2026, bringing the series to a close with a compact 12-episode run. There’s no denying that Spooky in Love takes a rather melodramatic turn in the penultimate episode as it zeroed in on its true final villain. That said, the series does redeem itself with the perfect finale that makes the series worth sticking through until the end.

Admittedly, having Kang Min-hwan revealed as a twist villain certainly felt like it came out of nowhere and was a little inconsistent with the portrayal of his character in the series up until that point. Min-hwan essentially went from a very real potential second lead and disarming love rival to a business rival eyeing a merger with Reina, to ultimately a dangerous killer with multiple deaths on his hands by the end of the series. Of course, the reason for his crimes made sense when cleanly laid out, but the sudden transition did paint him as a bit of a soap opera villain, especially with the whole cliché freak accident that left both Yeo-ri and Gang-uk on death’s doorstep.

As such, Episode 11 is perhaps the weakest link in the entire series for this reason, though Spooky in Love did pull through with its finale, which nearly makes up for it. The series finale neatly wrapped up the series’ main conflict regarding Kang Ji-hwan’s death as well as Yeo-ri’s ability to see ghosts and spirits.

And with regard to this particular plot point, the series provides a rather emotional resolution, with cameos by all the spirits Yeo-ri helped throughout the series as they touchingly came together to repay her kindness. And although there may not have been a typical wedding scene at the end, Spooky in Love does make sure to give fans plenty of wholesome, happy moments between Ma Gang-uk and Cheon Yeo-ri to wrap things up.

Spooky in Love Was Missing Only One Thing But It Already Has the Solution

All that said, if there’s one thing Spooky in Love was truly missing and could use more of, it’s more, well, spooky stuff. Although the series initially starts off with a very ghost-of-the-week structure, the second half of the series more so turns into an inheritance battle over Reina Hotel. This includes all the typical melodrama, whether it’s family politics and scheming, cozying up to stockholders, or digging up dirt on secret slush funds.

During all of this, the series has much less of a focus on the supernatural, and this is definitely something the series leaves fans wanting more of until the end. That said, Spooky in Love may already have the solution to this dilemma through its recently launched webtoon adaptation, which has endless possibilities for adding new spooky stories and even turning up the spook factor, making it the obvious next destination for fans.
