Liverpool have no plans to offload Van Dijk

Liverpool have no plans to contemplate the departure of Virgil van Dijk during the summer transfer window.

The Reds are aiming to strengthen their central defence for next season, and they have already signed Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes.

The club are eyeing another marquee signing, and Teamtalk recently claimed that this could coincide with Van Dijk’s summer exit.

Van Dijk put pen to paper on a long-term deal last summer, but Teamtalk said that some of the hierarchy have regretted the decision.

This has now been dismissed by journalist James Pearce, who clarified that Liverpool are looking ahead to next season with Van Dijk as their captain.

The 34-year-old continues to receive the backing from the dressing room and he is guaranteed to stay with the Reds next campaign.

Liverpool finished a disappointing fifth in the Premier League last term but they will be aiming for a much better showing next season.

New manager Andoni Iraola is set to be backed with several signings.
