Delap wanted by Leeds & Forest

Leeds United and Nottingham Forest have joined the race to sign Chelsea striker Liam Delap before the transfer deadline on September 1, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Englishman has been deemed surplus to requirements at the west London giants, and he is widely expected to be sold before the transfer window concludes.

Como made an approach for the 23-year-old earlier this month, but Delap’s representatives have since told the Blues he wants to stay in the Premier League.

Everton are weighing up an offer for the young marksman, but they are not alone, with Leeds and Forest also keen on landing the former Ipswich Town man.

Chelsea reportedly want a package of £50m to part ways with his services, but there is a belief that an offer in the region of £40m could persuade them to sell.

Delap has also been linked with Crystal Palace, but the South London outfit won’t enter the race unless Jean-Philippe Mateta moves on from the club.
