Taking place in a post-apocalyptic world where Earth has become the setting of an interstellar dungeon-crawling reality show, Dungeon Crawler Carl first began its life as a 2020 novel of the same name. Created by Matt Dinniman, the story follows, you guessed it, Carl, a normal man who must become an unlikely hero whilst becoming part of the game and doing what it takes to fend off alien forces.

With the book series now consisting of eight novels, as well as graphic novel spin-offs and webseries episodes, it is also pipped for a live-action adaptation for Peacock by Universal International Studios and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions.

Put simply, the Dungeon Crawler Carl franchise has become a worldwide phenomenon over the past six years, and this upcoming release will bring the post-apocalyptic story to a whole new audience this October.

Shared over on BackerKit, Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG and the accompanying Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable are upcoming card-crafting deck-building games from Renegade Game Studios. However, what is more impressive, is that the crowdfunding campaign that initially went live with a goal of $250,000, has now hit an eye-watering $13.3 million spread across 56,000 backers. Those numbers just go to show how big the Dungeon Crawler Carl franchise has become.

As officially licensed card games, Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG and Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable are now available to pre-order ahead of their October and November releases. The Starter set for Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG comes in at £50.40, whilst Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable retails at £54.00, and launches in November. However, as with many card games, you will be able to purchase add-ons, such as extra cards, all on the Renegade Game Studios website.
