Erling Haaland was at it again, bagging a decisive brace to power Norway to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Denmark in their Nations League opener.
Fresh from a remarkable World Cup campaign where he scored seven goals to fire Norway to the quarter-finals, the Manchester City talisman was once again the difference-maker in Oslo.
A chaotic first-half set the tone with three goals in 11 minutes.
Fulham’s Oscar Bobb opened the scoring by collecting a neat delivery from Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard and curling a fine finish into the far corner. Just four minutes later, Antonio Nusa danced into the Denmark box before slipping through a pass to Haaland, who applied an instinctive first-time finish past Filip Jorgensen.
Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgaard halved the deficit almost immediately with a sensational 25-yard free-kick and Denmark mounted a fightback on the hour mark when former Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund drew the visitors level at 2-2.
Haaland had the final say, however from a smart corner routine, the lethal marksman finding space inside the area to rifle home the winner.
Elsewhere, the Republic of Ireland were flat in defeat to Kosovo while Greece won in Serbia.
Israel forward Saied Abu Farchi was sent off after scoring an equaliser against Austria, following a celebration in which he used the corner flag to simulate a gun.
Austria went on to win 3-1 with two late goals.
