Well, it is another exciting day for Grand Theft Auto VI as a recent email has taken the community by storm. This comes after fans were left disappointed earlier this week after leaks suggested that a major announcement would be coming from Rockstar Games on 12 May. However, when Rockstar decided to use this date to merely announce an update for Red Dead Online, you can imagine how normally people reacted to the change of plans.
However, it seems as though redemption has finally arrived after Best Buy customers were treated to emails overnight, revealing that Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders are set to go live on 18 May. The news comes from multiple Best Buy affiliates who reported receiving an email detailing the pre-order details. For once, this seems to be a reliable leak, as it has only been reported by affiliates, as opposed to “reliable insiders and leakers”. The email details that pre-orders will begin on 18 May and will remain open until 21 May.
It is currently unclear why pre-orders will only be open for a limited number of days, and even less clear why Rockstar is relying on affiliates to share the news on pre-orders, as we can imagine everybody and their mum will be purchasing the game regardless, but hey, this seems to be our first official leak in a long time. Not only that, but it seems as though the long-awaited third Grand Theft Auto VI trailer will also be released on Monday 18 May to celebrate the start of the pre-order period.
It is hard to believe that the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI was released way back in December 2023, with the second following in May 2025. Put simply, the gap between official trailers has led to countless speculation and disappointment, with many fans worrying that the delay for the third trailer could hint at a potential third delay of the game. However, if this Best Buy news is correct, we do not need to worry about that.
If the news is true, we could expect to see the third trailer as early as next week, and with many fans hoping that this one will finally dedicate itself entirely to gameplay, we could be in for a treat, especially as Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch in just over six months. We are officially the closest we have ever been to the launch of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto sequel, and so fingers crossed that the next few months go smoothly and, this time next year, we will be deep into our time in Leonida and beyond.
