It may have come to an end back in May 2019 with a less-than-successful finale, but the Game of Thrones fandom is still alive and well, mainly thanks to the extended universe created by its author, George R.R. Martin. Since the overall success of Game of Thrones, which ran for eight years, HBO has since adapted more of Martin’s work, introducing fellow hit shows House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Based on the A Song of Ice and Fire universe, the medieval high fantasy series has captured the hearts of millions of fans across the globe, and so it is no surprise that video game developers have wanted to cash in on the action.

As well as the launch of Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, the strategy RPG which is expected to be released some time in 2027, the mobile title Game of Thrones: Legends is also performing well since its launch back in 2024. However, it definitely has competition as epic 4X strategy war game, Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, is rising through the ranks for Android users.

Released earlier this year, Game of Thrones: Dragonfire combines the lore of both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon to give players the chance to lead their House through conquest, diplomacy, and dragon warfare. As the official Google Play synopsis reads:

Command legendary dragons, forge powerful alliances, and conquer the Seven Kingdoms in the ultimate Game of Thrones strategy game. Build your empire, raise a fearsome dragon army, and wage RTS war across Westeros to claim the Iron Throne. Not only does the base game offer tons of content, but Game of Thrones: Dragonfire also welcomes regular updates, especially when new episodes of House of the Dragon have been airing. In the latest update, announced on 23 September, players will get to add a brand-new dragon to their roster: Smoketail, the Veilflame.

“Smoketail, the Veilflame, has transcended the simple art of concealment,” the official blog post reads. “No longer content to shroud battlefields in smoke, she weaves entire illusions—phantom valleys, false armies, ghostly cries—to unmake her foes before the fight begins.

“When Lord Wendryn’s host marched on Hornwood, they found the land twisted by visions: familiar woods turned to ash, kin whispered from the trees, and every path led only to confusion and fire. None who entered emerged unchanged. Smoketail does not roar—she unravels. Her illusions beguile, her smoke deceives, and those caught within rarely know truth from trap until it’s too late.”

Available to claim upon entering the campaign ‘The Dragon’s Divide’, Smoketail will make a formidable addition to your dragon army with her kit blending steady fire damage with self-preservation.

The aforementioned blog post lists all of Smoketail’s abilities, habits, affinities, and most importantly, star ratings, which read as follows:

As you can see, Smoketail may not be the strongest, but she is definitely the most intelligent, and as a result, is able to identify weaker enemies on the battlefield and turn the tide in your favor.
