Game Of Thrones: Starshower Officially Unveiled

There’s no shortage of dragons in the Game of Thrones universe, with George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood introducing a massive lineage covering thousands of years of Targaryan history with the mystical beasts. HBO has brought many of those legendary dragons to life over the past several years through House of the Dragon, giving fans an actual visual representation of iconic creatures such as Vhagar, Caraxes, Syrax, Meleys, Sunfyre, Vermithor, Silverwing, and Dreamfyre.

In both the show and the books, every dragon boasts a distinct appearance, personality, and even fighting style, all representing a unique bond between rider and beast. From Vhagar’s terrifying size to Caraxes’ serpentine design to Meleys’ speed and elegance, the series has expanded the franchise’s dragon lore far beyond what viewers experienced in the original Game of Thrones show.

Of course, none of those dragons would have captured imaginations without Daenerys Targaryen’s legendary trio, Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion, paving the way on screen. Incredibly, new dragons are still being introduced to the Game of Thrones universe still to this day, with Starshower – The Wishkeeper “standing guard between the realm and the wrath of the skies” (via Dragonfire).

Starshower – The Wishkeeper is the newest addition to the massive and growing roster of unique dragons in Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, the new 4X mobile strategy game from Warner Bros. Boston. Starshower was “first seen during a summer when the heavens turned restless” during a terrifying meteor shower where “she circled watchfully above the countryside, each sweep of her wings scattering the meteors harmlessly into the distant sea.”

Unlike fearsome and terrifying beasts such as Vhagar who wreak destruction across the realm, “Starshower is said to appear only when catastrophe looms from above—comets, omens, or worse—standing guard between the realm and the wrath of the skies.” Players can unlock the Epic Sentinel by entering the Shadow of the Greens campaign (one of three available main campaigns), where she specializes in Tactical damage rather than the more defensive role typically associated with Sentinel dragons.

Starshower’s gameplay revolves around applying Solar Flare marks to enemy dragons before repeatedly consuming those marks to trigger Tactical damage and defensive bonuses for allies. Her Starfall Command automatically marks enemies at the start of battle, while Ill Portents steadily increases her damage output and can reapply Solar Flare later in combat if every mark has been consumed.

She also supports the rest of the team through Night Guardian, which cleanses negative effects and grants Evade to allies, making her an effective defensive option on top of being a solid attacker. Starshower is just one of several unique dragons in Game of Thrones: Dragonfire, and if you haven’t had a chance to check out the game yet, it’s available for free on the App Store and Google Play.
