Frank Finally Ends Bachelor Streak in Season 17 Finale

WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17, episode 8.

The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17 finale finally ended a near-series-long streak for Frank during his appearance on the ABC reality television series, The Golden Bachelor.

While Frank was initially head-over-heels about the internet personality “C**k Chewa”, he ended up surprising himself and the Always Sunny fanbase by uncharacteristically following his heart. In a scene straight out of a classic rom-com, Frank runs through the rain at a bus station looking for his one true love – Samantha (played by Oscar nominee Carol Kane).

Frank Proposing To Sam Ends His 19 Years Of Being Single On It’s Always Sunny

In the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17 finale, Frank appears to be finally ending his bachelor streak, which has nearly run for two decades across the entire series. Despite his strong feelings for both C**k Chewa and Bonnie Kelly, best known as Charlie’s mom (played by the late Lynne Marie Stewart), Frank remarkably found a new love in Sam.

Sam checked a lot of boxes throughout the Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17 finale, not only for Frank, but for the self-interested Dennis and Dee as well. Apparently, Sam isn’t after Frank’s money, as Dennis and Dee suspected, and is in fact living off a small fortune of her own from her self-proclaimed “chicken money.”

With Dee and Dennis’s blessing, and a new scheme hatched to “wet their beaks” with Sam’s chicken money, nothing was stopping Frank from getting the girl other than his own inhibition. Fortunately, after booting Sam off the show for expressing her genuine interest and admiration for Frank’s idiosyncratic demeanor, Frank realizes that what he needs more than anything is to be loved for who he is, which is exactly what Sam has to offer.

Will Frank & Sam Actually Get Married In It’s Always Sunny Season 18?

Frank Reynolds in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

With a show like It’s Always Sunny, you never know what the gang is going to be up to from season to season and what new and supporting characters will be returning.

All signs in the season 17 ending indicate that Sam and Frank will actually get married in the upcoming and already confirmed Always Sunny season 18, but with Frank’s unpredictable personality, there’s literally no way to know for sure. Kane made her Always Sunny debut in the season 17 finale, so she is poised to return (or at the very least, be mentioned) at the start of season 18.

Next season could feasibly start with Frank recapping what happened with Sam after their romantic encounter before something happens, like Frank getting cold feet or even some type of unexpected tragedy that could send Sam walking. Either way, it would be great to see how Frank might change as a remarried man in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 18.
