His achievement was particularly notable because he became the first wicketkeeper-captain in Duleep Trophy history to register a double century. The innings also ended a long wait for East Zone in the competition. Kishan became only the third East Zone batter to score a double hundred in the Duleep Trophy, following in the footsteps of Arun Lal and Saba Karim.
His name also entered an exclusive list of players who have reached the 200-run mark in a Duleep Trophy final. The elite group includes several distinguished Indian batters, among them Cheteshwar Pujara, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
