Animated movies tend to be some of the biggest and most popular of every year thanks to how accessible they are for audiences of all ages. Hollywood has prestigious studios built just to make these films, like Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Illumination, and DreamWorks. They’ll look to deliver the goods once again in 2026.
After a great year that gave us KPop Demon Hunters, Elio, Zootopia 2, The Bad Guys 2, Ne Zha 2, and more, there is another exciting lineup of animated features to check out throughout 2026. This includes highly anticipated sequels, new original tales, and more. Here are all the 2026 animated movies coming out.
Cosmic Princess Kaguya!
- Release Date: January 22, 2026
Netflix is set to give subscribers a Japanese anime musical from the studio behind Drifting Home and My Oni Girl. Their next film, Cosmic Princess Kaguya! is inspired by the folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter and features Yūko Natsuyoshi, Anna Nagase, Saori Hayami, and Rie Kugimiya among the voice cast. It’s directed by Shingo Yamashita, who previously worked on Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.
Goat
- Release Date: February 13, 2026
Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry is behind Sony’s animated sports comedy, Goat. Playing on the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) acronym, it follows a goat, voiced by Stranger Things‘ Caleb McLaughlin, who tries to become a professional athlete. Curry is a producer and part of the voice cast, which includes everyone from Gabrielle Union to David Harbour, Aaron Pierre, and Jennifer Hudson.
Hoppers
- Release Date: March 6, 2026
Pixar is behind a new sci-fi comedy, known as Hoppers. It follows a teenager who uses Avatar-like technology to pose as a beaver, putting her in the middle of a plot to save an animal habitat. Hoppers is directed by Daniel Chong, who has been part of the Pixar Senior Creative Team since Turning Red. The voice cast includes Jon Hamm, Meryl Streep, Dave Franco, and more.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
- Release Date: April 3, 2026
Illumination is back with another Nintendo animated movie, as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming out. Adapting the games of the same name, it follows Mario (Chris Pratt) and friends as they traverse the galaxy to stop Bowser (Jack Black) and Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie). Brie Larson is the biggest new addition to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie‘s cast, as she’s voicing Rosalina.
Animal Farm
- Release Date: May 1, 2026
Andy Serkis is putting a new spin on George Orwell’s iconic novella, Animal Farm, with Angel Studios distributing this version. Serkis recruited an incredible voice cast to bring the story to life once more, including: Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Kieran Culkin, Glenn Close, Steve Buscemi, Laverne Cox, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, and Iman Vellani.
Animal Friends
- Release Date: June 5, 2026
While not a fully animated movie, Animal Friends is a live-action/animation hybrid film on the horizon, headlined by Ryan Reynolds and Jason Momoa. It’s a road trip comedy about two animals pursued by humans. The cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Vince Vaughn, Eric André, Addison Rae, Rob Delaney, Lil Rel Howery, Dan Levy, and Ellie Bamber.
Toy Story 5
- Release Date: June 19, 2026
One of the biggest animated franchises ever returns in 2026 with Toy Story 5‘s release. It follows Woody’s reunion with Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of Bonnie’s toys as they have to confront the threat of technology through a frog-themed tablet, voiced by Greta Lee. Franchise writer Andrew Stanton steps into directing duties for the Pixar sequel after helming Finding Nemo, WALL-E, and Finding Dory.
Minions 3
- Release Date: July 1, 2026
Illumination is also bringing back a massive IP with the release of Minions 3. It will continue the wild adventures of the Despicable Me franchise‘s iconic yellow creatures, with Pierre Coffin returning to voice them all once more and direct the film. Plot details are officially still under wraps.
PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie
- Release Date: August 14, 2026
The PAW Patrol franchise grows again with the third feature-length movie made by Spin Master Entertainment. PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie is based on the Dino Rescue aspect of the series. Mckenna Grace’s return as Skye is one of the only returning voice actors from the last film, with the majority of the puppies and Ryder recast.
Coyote vs. Acme
- Release Date: August 28, 2026
After initially being canceled through a Warner Bros. Discovery tax write-off, Coyote vs. Acme is getting the release it always deserved courtesy of Ketchup Entertainment. The live-action/animation hybrid film revolves around Wile E. Coyote battling ACME in court over its faulty products. Will Forte plays Wile E.’s lawyer, while John Cena plays ACME’s lawyer.
