Early Screening & Q&A with ScreenRant

Stephen King’s The Long Walk has finally been adapted into a movie, and if the 46-year wait since the book’s original publishing has been too long, you can at least catch the film two weeks early at ScreenRant’s LA screening. Set in a dystopian United States, the story centers around the contestants of a brutal endurance walking contest.

ScreenRant is proud to host an early screening of The Long Walk, taking place on August 25 at AMC Burbank 16 at 7:00 pm. Following the screening, ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan will moderate a Q&A with editor Mark Yoshikawa. Check out The Long Walk trailer if you haven’t, and RSVP for the screening here.

Why You Should Be Excited About The Long Walk

If you’re looking for a reason to see The Long Walk, look no further than the movie’s early reactions. It’s been called “one of the most powerful Stephen King adaptations in recent years,” “incredibly harrowing, terrifying, and traumatizing film” (in a good way, though), and “purely intense.” Reactions also lauded the performances of Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson as Oscar-worthy.

The movie also has an impressive supporting cast featuring a number of fan-favorite actors. Tose include Karate Kid: Legends’ Ben Wang, Arrested Development’s Judy Greer, and none other than Mark Hamill. Plus, with Stephen King heavily involved in casting, you can see the movie knowing it has the beloved author’s approval.

The Long Walk even has impressive talent behind the camera. Director Francis Lawrence, known in part for his work on The Hunger Games franchise, shepherded the movie to its R-rated final form.

With experience in both adapting hit novels and crafting gripping thrillers (like his 2018 film Red Sparrow), Lawrence certainly appears to have the right blend of talents to bring King’s work to life.

With ScreenRant’s screening and Q&A editor Mark Yoshikawa will also be able to shine a light on how the movie’s pace and tension were created after filming finished. Not only will you be able to see The Long Walk early–you’ll also learn about the ins and outs of bringing it to the big screen.
