Resident Evil Fans Should Mark Their Calendars For June 5

Despite having just gotten a new combat-focused DLC to help keep fans entertained, the Resident Evil franchise keeps getting new leaks and rumors pointing towards an imminent announcement on the horizon. While we recently got through a wave of reportedly fake DLC leaks for Resident Evil Requiem, a recent claim seems like it could actually be a bit more reliable this time around.

While it’s far from an official confirmation, there are growing rumors that Resident Evil fans will want to keep a close eye on an upcoming event taking place on June 5 if they want to be the first to hear about a new announcement for the series.

As noted by AGivenSoul on X, recent leaks suggest that the “Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake will be announced at the Summer Game Fest 2026 event,” while also suggesting we’ll be getting a major update for the release of Silent Hill: Townfall.

Although the post itself doesn’t provide an official source, most of the rumors are circulating around the Team Biohazard fan page, which has been teasing the reveal for weeks before outright claiming that Code Veronica will be announced at the event. While the supposed leak should still be taken with a grain of salt, it is worth noting the fan page has previously slammed other leaks and rumors for being fake in the past.

The Residence of Evil 2 YouTube channel has also made similar claims over a Code Veronica remake announcement at the SGF.

Despitpe not being an official confirmation, even the infamous Resident Evil leaker AestheticGamer1 weighed in on the growing rumors as well. While they don’t have an official confirmation of Capcom’s marketing plans to support the rumors this time around, they still “think it’s incredibly likely.

While this is far from the first time we’ve seen rumors circulating for the all but officially confirmed Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake, the recent rumors would align fairly well with what we’ve heard so far regarding the project.

Even if it might feel like far too soon after Requiem to get a new release, the Code Veronica remake has allegedly been in the works for a while, while Requiem‘s development apparently saw several delays. All things considered, a back-to-back announcement wouldn’t be too surprising to see for Capcom’s best-selling franchise.

With promises of a new horror-focused direction for Code Veronica raising excitement for fans of the series, it seems like there are more than enough reasons why Resident Evil fans will want to keep an eye out for a new update during the Summer Games Fest on June 5, whether it’s in the form of a Code Veronica announcement, Requiem story DLC teaser, or any details about future releases for the series.
