DC Justice League RPG Officially Drops On July 21

Today, the Justice League remains a cornerstone of DC Comics after more than six decades, bringing together legendary heroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter to defend Earth from its greatest threats. Since debuting in “The Brave and the Bold” #28 in 1960, the team has become one of the most recognizable superhero groups in popular culture, inspiring countless comic series, animated shows, blockbuster films, toys, and video games.

While the franchise has experienced its share of ups and downs in recent years, including mixed reactions to the extremely disappointing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, interest in DC’s premier superhero team remains as strong as ever. Fans continue looking ahead to new Justice League stories and hoping the iconic team receives the blockbuster game adaptation many believe it deserves.

And perhaps the most highly anticipated Justice League project on the docket is the DC Justice League Unlimited RPG, which officially kicks off its crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound this week.

Justice League Unlimited: The Roleplaying Game is the first officially licensed DC tabletop RPG in nearly two decades, giving fans the chance to experience adventures across the DC Universe as either legendary superheroes or entirely original characters of their own making.

Developed by Brazilian studio D20 Culture in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and co-authored by acclaimed DC writer Mark Waid, the game is based on the current Justice League Unlimited era of DC Comics. In this storyline, the League has expanded into a global network of heroes operating from the Watchtower, welcoming virtually any hero willing to protect the world.

The RPG features narrative-driven storytelling with very straightforward and easy-to-learn rules, allowing players to create heroes from a wide range of origins, including Kryptonians, Amazons, metahumans, cyber constructs, and more, or they can choose to play as iconic characters such as Batman, Superman, and/or Wonder Woman, etc.

So far, while not all details are known, some exciting mechanics include “Saving Scenes” focused on rescuing civilians, a “Crisis Die” that introduces unexpected “comic book-style” twists, scalable power tiers, and customizable abilities through the Ascension Point system.

After months of previews and sign-ups, Justice League Unlimited: The Roleplaying Game officially launches its Gamefound crowdfunding campaign on Tuesday, July 21, with backers able to pledge for the core game plus additional rewards. The campaign is expected to reveal further stretch goals, expansions, and accessories as it progresses toward an eventual 2027 fulfillment period. Overall, fans of the Justice League are incredibly hyped for the project, and it’s almost certainly going to blow past its crowdfunding goal in no time.
