Casemiro says it is “too soon” to determine whether he will remain at Manchester United next season.

The Brazilian midfielder, who has seen his playing time reduced under manager Ruben Amorim, also expressed his desire for more minutes on the pitch.

The 33-year-old is currently under contract at Old Trafford until 2026, but with United looking to trim their wage bill, speculation has grown regarding a potential departure in the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking about his future, Casemiro suggested that any decisions would likely be made closer to the summer.

“It’s too soon to talk about next season, but of course I have another year of contract and then an option,” he said. “We have important games, and on Sunday we have Arsenal.

“It’s too soon to talk about next season. I’m here, I’m available, with total happiness, and I’m ready for the coach and the club. As everyone knows, I’m a big character for the club.”

Since joining Manchester United from Real Madrid in 2022, Casemiro has played a key role in midfield.

However, since Amorim took charge in November, he has been limited to just seven starts. With doubts over the fitness of Manuel Ugarte – who was absent from United’s recent 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad – Casemiro could feature against Arsenal this weekend.

Despite his reduced role, the experienced midfielder made it clear that he remains committed to giving his best for the team while acknowledging his desire for more playing time.

“Of course I want to play, but I always say, and these are my values, I respect the coach a lot, I respect the club,” he added. “Every day I go to Carrington or Old Trafford, I try to do my best. If a player is on the bench and is happy, that player is not worth anything for any team.

“Of course I want to play, I want to have more minutes, but the coach is the one who makes the decisions, and I have a lot of respect for him and for the club.”
