Assassin’s Creed Origins Rebirth Is The Next-Gen Remaster Of Our Dreams

If you asked me to pick one underrated entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, it would be Assassin’s Creed Origins. First released back in 2017 as the tenth major installment in the Ubisoft series, Assassin’s Creed Origins took players to Egypt during the reign of Cleopatra.

It was here that we took on the role of Bayek of Siwa, a Medjay who, alongside his wife Aya, seeks revenge for the murder of their son. As a result, they ultimately go onto found the Assassin’s Brotherhood, hence this entry being known as Origins. Together, they battle the ever-present Templar Order and make history as our original assassins.

Praised for its setting, characters, gameplay, and story, Assassin’s Creed Origins may have received mainly positive reviews, but compared to the likes of the Ezio trilogy, it did not build the same buzz. As such, it is an underrated gem in the franchise for me, especially as getting to the see the origins of the Assassin’s Brotherhood was not something I ever expected to see.

With next year celebrating the 10th anniversary of Assassin’s Creed Origins, by publishers standards, it is probably due a remaster. However, there is no denying that the game is already beautiful as it is, taking us across the sand-leaden dunes of Ancient Egypt as the sun beats down above us, creating mirages in the distance.

That being said, a little makeover is always appreciated, and although we may not be getting one from Ubisoft anytime soon, following the recent launch of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, and the upcoming launch of Assassin’s Creed Hexe, one creator has taken matters into their own hands.

Courtesy of Yanting over on YouTube, we can now get a look at a new-and-improved Assassin’s Creed: Origins courtesy of a simple reshade. Aimed to make the game look a lot more natural and colorful, the reshade is free to download over on Nexus Mods, but if you want to see it in action, make sure to check out this brief teaser.

As you can see, it manages to keep the magic of the original Ubisoft release whilst slightly polishing its lighting and colors. It definitely seems a lot more vibrant, but not too sharp or heavily contrasted. The results are quite phenomenal, and if you are new to modding, Yanting has released instructions on how to download it over on the official Nexus Mods page.

With fans claiming that this reshade “looks really good”, it seems as though it is a success, and not only that, but this Assassin’s Creed Origins mod is completely free to download now.
