Nelson to Feyenoord

Reiss Nelson has secured a permanent transfer to Feyenoord following his recent release from Arsenal, according to Dutch outlet VI.

The Englishman was deemed surplus to requirements by the Gunners last month, and he was released before the transfer deadline.

Hence, Nelson had time on his hands to choose his next club. West Ham United were eager to sign him, but they have missed out to Feyenoord.

The 26-year-old was earning £100,000 per week, and he has accepted a 50 per cent pay cut to make the switch to the Dutch heavyweights.

Nelson had the opportunity to continue in London with the Hammers, but he has chosen Feyenoord due to their Champions League exposure.

The Eredivisie giants qualified directly for the elite European competition with a top-two league finish last term. This has probably tempted Nelson.

Nelson had a forgotten loan spell with Brentford last campaign, and he will be aiming to revive his flagging career with Feyenoord going forward.
