Bruno G injured

Arsenal have suffered an injury blow on midfielder Bruno Guimaraes ahead of the Premier League curtain-raiser against Coventry City tonight.

The Gunners recently secured the high-profile signing of Guimaraes from Newcastle United, and he made his debut against Manchester City in the Community Shield.

In the same game, Guimaraes was substituted at the interval with a thigh injury and was spotted with an ice pack on the bench. It is now revealed that he won’t be fit for the league opener against the Sky Blues tonight.

The injury does not appear to be a serious one and the Brazilian could be deemed fit before the away league encounter at Aston Villa next week.

In the absence of Guimaraes, Declan Rice is poised to partner Myles Lewis-Skelly in the centre of the park against Frank Lampard‘s side.

The Gunners will go into the game as clear-cut favourites and the fans will expect nothing less than a comfortable win at the Emirates Stadium.
