Mosquera out of Napoli game

Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera will be sidelined for the Champions League opener against Napoli on the road tomorrow.

The Spain international picked up a muscle injury against Aston Villa in the Premier League last month, and has yet to recover from it.

Mosquera was absent for the 2-1 league win over Chelsea last weekend. Ezri Konsa made his debut in central defence in his absence and produced a fantastic performance alongside Gabriel Magalhaes.

It is now revealed that the former Valencia man has not returned to training yet. He has also been left out of the travelling squad.

Hence, he won’t play any part in the Champions League match against Napoli and seems unlikely to face Sunderland in the league on Saturday.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta may not want to rush him back into action, particularly with the club having signed Konsa to add depth.

While Mosquera is out, Jurrien Timber has finally returned to full training after his nagging groin issue and could feature tomorrow.
