Arsenal have confirmed the transfer of defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa on a long-term contract.
The Gunners have been determined to land a versatile centre-back after the injury sustained by William Saliba.
They have eventually secured Konsa as cover. He was manager Mikel Arteta‘s top defensive target for the window.
The 28-year-old has not been registered in time for the Premier League opener against Coventry City tonight.
However, he will be introduced to the fans at the Emirates Stadium.
Konsa will start training with his teammates this weekend and he could make his debut against his former club Villa on the road.
Cristhian Mosquera will partner Gabriel Magalhaes in the heart of the defence tonight, but Konsa could start ahead of him soon.
The former Brentford man can also operate as a right-back and could fill in the role too, given Ben White has been injury-prone for a while.
Jurrien Timber is also nursing a nagging groin problem.
