After 7 Years, Chainsaw Man Finally Reveals His Brutal Final Form

After 7 years of publication, Chainsaw Man just delivered the moment fans have waited for since the beginning of the series. All signs point to the series finally reaching its conclusion in the near future, so it’s only appropriate that the title hero has just unlocked his final form.

Chainsaw Man Chapter #222 sees Yoru stand victorious over Pochita and Denji. As the War Devil holds out her hand and contemplates what to call her new weapon, Denji strikes out through the cracks of his Chainsaw Man form, revealing a scissors sign to counteract the paper sign Yoru had accidentally made.

Having beaten the War Devil at a simple game of rock paper scissors, Denji uses the distraction to pull his rip cord. Unlike previous Chainsaw Man forms, which saw either Denji or Pochita in the driver’s seat, the hero’s latest form is the duo’s perfect fusion. In one of the manga’s best panels of all time, Denji unveils his final Chainsaw Man form.

“Looks like Pochita’s strongest devil powers and my high school-educated genius brain have combined.”

Chainsaw Man’s Final Form is the Denji and Pochita Fusion Fans Have Waited Years For

While Denji and Pochita have, essentially, been one being ever since the latter became the former’s heart in Chainsaw Man’s brilliant first chapter, it has always been one or the other taking control of the actual Chainsaw Man form.

This is the source of the Red Chainsaw Man vs. Black Chainsaw Man dichotomy that the series has referenced previously. While the human-like Chainsaw Man seen throughout much of the early series is Denji, the armored monstrosity that comes out in times of high stress is Pochita.

Now, against Yoru, Denji finally seems to have found a way to reconcile these two forms into something that could be ultra-powerful.

Why Denji’s New Chainsaw Man Form Will Be His Strongest Yet

As goofy as Denji’s comment about having a “high school-educated genius brain” is, he’s actually not far off from the truth. Denji has consistently displayed a kind of outside-the-box thinking that gets him out of situations others would have died in.

Chapter #222 is the perfect example. His gambit of randomly deciding to throw scissors against Yoru is, admittedly, ridiculous. But Yoru is so obsessed with winning that losing anything, even a children’s game she wasn’t playing, is emotionally compromising enough to buy Denji the time he needs.

In addition to that, Denji throwing scissors could also be seen as him throwing up the peace sign, a natural counter for war.

With this latest chapter, Chainsaw Man is upending everything fans thought they knew about the shonen genre, and the result is glorious.

All of it is just further proof of series creator Tatsuki Fujimoto’s genius. Chainsaw Man is one of the best manga of all time, so it’s only fitting that the lead hero’s final form is a perfect symbol of why.
