Taylor Sheridan’s New 6-Part Western Series Dethrones Paramount’s Toughest Competitor To Lasso No. 1 Streaming Spot

Taylor Sheridan ropes in another win as his new six-part Western series, The Madison, rides past the competition to claim the No. 1 streaming spot on Paramount+.

From the creator of Yellowstone, the new neo-Western series premiered its first three episodes on Paramount+ on Saturday, March 14, followed by the next three a week later on March 21.

Now, a few days later, The Madison is No. 1 on the Top 10 shows on Paramount+ in the world for today, March 23, per FlixPatrol. South Park previously held the spot for a long time until recently, which now ranks second above Y: Marshals, Yellowstone, De Férias com o Ex: América Latina, Tulsa King, Acaoulco Shore, SpongeBob SquarePants, Landman, and The King of Queens.

For today, The Madison is in the Top 10 on Paramount+ in a total of 27 countries located across four different continents: North America (including Central America and the Caribbean), South America, Europe, and Oceania.

Created and written solely by Taylor Sheridan, The Madison follows the Clyburn family as they move from New York City to the Madison River valley of southwest Montana to process their grief following a major life-changing tragedy.

The Madison‘s star-studded cast includes three-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Beau Garrett, Patrick J. Adams (Suits), Elle Chapman, Amiah Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, and Emmy nominee Matthew Fox (Lost). Seven-time Emmy nominee Will Arnett (Arrested Development, 30 Rock, BoJack Horseman) guest stars.

The Madison has received mixed reviews from critics, resulting in a 59% Rotten Tomatoes score, which qualifies as “Rotten.” Audience reception has been slightly better, earning a 76% score from that group.

The Madison Is Already Returning For Season 2

In August 2025, before the series premiered on March 14, The Madison season 2 was officially renewed by Paramount+, and shooting wrapped shortly before Christmas, though it doesn’t yet have a release date. Most of the main surviving cast members are expected to return. After The Madison season 1 ending, season 2 should continue following the Clyburn family in Stacy’s Valley as they process their grief.

Taylor Sheridan’s Western Universe Continues To Expand

The Madison was originally green-lit as a Yellowstone spinoff, though it was later announced that it is a stand-alone series not connected to the franchise. Still, The Madison continues to expand Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western portfolio.

Though there are new Yellowstone spinoffs, such as Marshals following Kayce (Luke Grimes) and the upcoming Dutton Ranch show featuring Rip (Cole Hauser) and Beth (Kelly Reilly), The Madison expands Sheridan’s Western universe of shows not connected to the franchise, including Landman and Lawman: Bass Reeves.
