Alonso snubbing Quenda

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has made a personal decision to snub Geovany Quenda this campaign, according to The Daily Mail.

The Blues have had a good start to the campaign under the Spaniard, and they have suffered a solitary defeat against Arsenal on the road in the league.

Chelsea recently progressed to the Carabao Cup fourth round by beating Leeds United, but Quenda was once again an unused substitute.

The Daily Mail now reveal that Quenda is fully fit after a minor injury scare in pre-season, but he has yet to convince Alonso to pick him.

The youngster made a name for himself from the right wing-back position when he came through the ranks under Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP.

He is more than capable of playing the role for the Blues too, but he is currently behind Joao Pedro and Estevao in the pecking order.

Hence, it may take a while before he gets his opportunity to impress from the starting XI. He may have to settle for cameo appearances for now.
