Alien: Earth Premiere – Release Time, Schedule & Where to Watch

Alien: Earth premieres this week, and you’ll want to watch the FX prequel as soon as it’s available. Alien: Earth is set before the original Alien movie, expanding the lore of the nearly five-decade-old franchise with exciting new ideas. Despite all these years, this will be the first time the franchise has been on television.

The new series is created by Noah Hawley, a fantastic TV writer known for his shows Fargo and Legion, the latter being a highly underrated X-Men spinoff show. Alien: Earth’s cast includes industry veterans like Timothy Olyphant, as well as young stars like Sydney Chandler and Alex Lawther.

Those looking forward to the new Alien franchise installment can look forward to two episodes debuting on Tuesday night. They’ll be available on the cable network FX as well as the streaming service Hulu on August 12 at 8 PM ET. That’s 5 PM PT, 6 PM MT, 7 PM CT, 1 AM GMT, and so on.

The first episode will be 63 minutes in runtime, while the second will follow up with 55 minutes, offering plenty of material for just the debut evening. In fact, the combined runtime of the two episodes will exceed that of the first Alien movie, providing reassurance for those uncertain about the franchise’s transition to a new medium.

As mentioned, those who don’t have cable television or FX need not fret, as Alien: Earth will be released simultaneously on Hulu. This is the case with most FX shows, including the currently ongoing It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. FX and Hulu have maintained this release model for years.

After the TV show’s first two episodes, audiences can expect subsequent releases on Tuesdays through the remainder of the season. The season will have a total of eight episodes, meaning Alien fans can enjoy the series over a span of several weeks, rounding out the Summer.
