Arsenal are reportedly favourites to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer amid interest from Real Madrid.
The Gunners are long-term admirers of the Spain international, and they are currently in advanced talks with him over a summer switch.
Zubimendi is close to agreeing on personal terms and AS claim that Arsenal are in pole position to land him despite Madrid’s fresh interest.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the 26-year-old and the club are prepared to pay his £50 million release clause this summer.
The arrival of Zubimendi could coincide with a double exit. Jorginho and Thomas Partey could leave on free transfers at the end of the season.
Jorginho’s contract expires on June 30 and reports claim that he is negotiating a potential return to Serie A on a Bosman move.
Partey is in a similar situation. With Arsenal reluctant to extend his stay, he could be tempted to return to La Liga with former club Atletico keen.
