A potential new leak about Pokémon Winds and Waves has surfaced, allegedly revealing the final typing matchups for the starters in the upcoming Generation 10 games. Revealed earlier this year after some leaks, the new titles will take players to a brand-new region, and possibly even introduce new gameplay mechanics. There are a lot of leaks going around, such as the potential box Legendaries for Pokémon Winds and Waves, and given the IP’s history with leaks, there’s a big chance that they are all true.
Now, a new leak has emerged. According to a post made by user Light on X, the typings for the final starter evolutions have allegedly leaked, revealing a bit more of what players can expect from their initial partner choice. In addition to the lineup of final starter typings, the leak also contains information about one of the starters’ final evolutions and their respective design, which could be a good sign for fans who are eager to choose them once the games are released.
According to the leak about the starters in Pokémon Winds and Waves, the Grass-type Browt will evolve into a Grass- and Ground-type Pokémon. The leak also mentions that the Water-type starter, Geckua, will be a Water- and Psychic-type creature in its final stage. Lastly, the final evolution for Pombon, the Fire-type starter, will be a hybrid Fire- and Fairy-type starter. It’s worth noting that this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, as it is still all subject to change, and it is described as a “potential” leak rather than a verified or proven one with sources.
The leak doesn’t mention if the first evolution for these starters will immediately unlock the secondary Type or if that will happen only in the final form – Combusken, for instance, gains Fighting-type in addition to Torchic’s Fire-type before reaching its final form, Blaziken. In addition to the typing for the final evolutions, the leak also mentions that Pombon’s final evolution in Pokémon Winds and Waves will remain quadrupedal, looking like a lion and dog, rather than standing on two feet.
This has been an issue with past generation starters, many of which start off as quadrupedal beings and eventually evolve into bipedal creatures. This is the case with Sprigatito and Litten, for instance. Apart from the leaked details about Pombon, the rumor doesn’t highlight design details about any of the other final starter evolutions in Pokémon Winds and Waves.
As a reminder, do not take any of these leaks as absolute truths. While leaks about the franchise have proven to be reliable in the past, with Legends: Z-A’s DLC leaks being the most recent example, there are some leaks that are simply untrue. For now, the best possible measure is to wait for official information about Pokémon Winds and Waves, but considering how Game Freak and The Pokémon Company operate, it’s likely we’ll only get confirmation about starter evolution typings once the games arrive in 2027.
