July is shaping up to be one of the best months for PlayStation Plus in a while. For example, PlayStation Plus’ monthly games for July 2026 were recently announced, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, For the King II, and CrossCode. That’s not all, though, with sports fans, in particular, in for a rare treat.
These Essential titles will become available next week, on July 7, but fans thankfully don’t need to wait that long for a thrilling PlayStation Plus freebie. Indeed, as the ongoing IRL 2026 FIFA World Cup continues to capture fans’ hearts, July is also a phenomenal month for virtual premier international soccer/football, and PlayStation is celebrating that by making a high-profile EA Sports game free as soon as this weekend.
Per Twitter/X, PlayStation is giving EA Sports FC 2026 fans and PlayStation Plus users free online multiplayer for this whole upcoming weekend. Running from July 3 to July 5, this free online multiplayer weekend is commencing at such short notice, but it is a fantastic opportunity nonetheless, as casual fans have an excuse to try it out, while anyone who plays competitively or enjoys watching competitive EA Sports FC Pro play can stretch their legs before the best players race onto video gaming’s own World Cup stage next week.
The Esports World Cup 2026 begins in Paris on July 6, and, closer to the end of July, there will be a prize pool of $1,500,000 and 36 participating players in EA Sports FC 2026’s tournament alone. EWC 2026 includes a wide spectrum of games with enormous esports scenes, though it is doubly exciting to have a World Cup esports outing for the EA Sports FC Pro league due to the 2026 FIFA World Cup currently airing.
The cherry on top, then, is that anyone who struggles to find the time this weekend to play EA Sports FC 2026 will not be left completely empty-handed. EA Sports FC 2026 is available for anyone who is subscribed to EA Play, and EA Play being included in an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription means that many gamers probably have access to it already.
Likewise, EA Sports FC 2026 is currently enjoying a steep 80% discount on both Steam and PlayStation, dropping it from $69.99 to $13.99, until July 9 and July 16, respectively.
As for PlayStation itself, EA Sports FC 2026 was added to PlayStation Plus’ monthly games lineup this past April and made available to claim until June 16, so fans were hopefully able to nab it before then. EA Sports FC 2026 has never been so accessible, and this weekend with PlayStation Plus, much less the rest of July, should surely be a terrific and momentous occasion for it.
