It was back in 2013 that Grand Theft Auto Online launched alongside the most recent Grand Theft Auto entry, Grand Theft Auto V. Allowing players to take to the city of Los Santos and commit crime, earn money, buy vehicles, and live the high life with friends, GTA Online has been a constant companion for the past 13 years.
Still boasting an impressive playerbase, thanks to regular updates and a dedicated roleplaying community, Grand Theft Auto Online will unfortunately be coming to an end later this year with the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. With the brand-new instalment expected to arrive alongside a new iteration of Grand Theft Auto Online, it is almost finally time to give up the keys to our mansions and say goodbye to Los Santos as we make the move to Leonida.
However, a recent update reveals that Grand Theft Auto Online as we know it is already set to change in July, marking a major milestone for players who have been dedicated players for well over a decade.
This news comes courtesy of the GTA 6 Countdown account on Twitter/X who drew our attention to the news that Grand Theft Auto Online‘s next DLC will most probably be its last. “Pretty much” confirmed to launch on 14 July, the DLC could mark the very last update we get for GTA Online before Rockstar fully turns all of its attention to the final touches for Grand Theft Auto VI.
Not only that, but the aforementioned Twitter user believes that this could spell good news for that long-awaited third trailer for GTA VI. So much so, they have put together a list of dates that the trailer could drop, all based around the launch of this final DLC:
- July 7th (a week before the DLC similar to Trailer 1 and a perfect time if Rockstar plans to advertise around the World Cup’s quarterfinal in Miami)
- July 21st (the Tuesday after the World Cup final)
- July 28th (around a week before Take-Two’s next earnings call)
- August 4th (the last Tuesday before the earnings call)
Of course, both the supposed date of the final Grand Theft Auto Online DLC and the dates of the third trailer launch are all just speculation as, as always, nothing has been confirmed by Rockstar itself. However, there is no denying that all of these dates do have some meaning behind them, and it also makes sense for the final Grand Theft Auto Online update to take place in the upcoming months.
If true, however, it remains to be seen how Rockstar will close out a huge chapter in its gaming history, as there is no denying that fans will want to say goodbye with a bang to the stunning world of Grand Theft Auto Online.
