Power Rangers’ Brand-New Team Is Officially Their Strongest In 33 Years

2026 is shaping up to be a massive year for Power Rangers. While the upcoming Disney+ reboot is a clear focus of discussion, the Power Ranger comic books from BOOM! Studios are still proving that the Morphin Grid is as alive as it’s ever been. The Power Ranger comics have become one of the franchise’s most exciting creative spaces, and this doesn’t look set to change anytime soon.

BOOM! has carried the Power Rangers torch for years now, introducing bold new Ranger teams while giving classic heroes far more depth than they ever received in the TV show. However, one upcoming 2026 release may top everything the publisher has attempted before, uniting some of the Power Rangers’ most iconic characters into arguably the strongest Ranger lineup ever seen.

Launching in July 2026, Power Rangers Unlimited will be a celebration of over three decades of Power Rangers history. Rather than focusing on one era, the comic will treat the franchise’s long history like a giant toybox, bringing together Rangers from across the Power Rangers timeline. Led by Trini Kwan as the Striking Tiger Unlimited Ranger, the new comic from BOOM! Studios promises a roster designed to honor every generation of Power Rangers fans while creating a team unlike anything the franchise has assembled before.

The New Power Rangers Unlimited Series Celebrates Three Decades Of Lore

Rather than limiting itself to one era, Power Rangers Unlimited will embrace the entire history of Power Rangers. Writers Joey Esposito and Kenny Porter are pulling characters from multiple generations of the franchise, creating a crossover-scale story where fan-favorite Rangers and allies can stand side by side for the first time in years.

Trini Kwan is the heart of Power Rangers Unlimited, operating now as the Striking Tiger Unlimited Ranger. The synopsis for issue #0 reveals that Trini will be calling on characters from multiple Power Rangers TV shows to form her multiple teams of veteran Rangers, meaning fans could see heroes from Mighty Morphin all the way to Cosmic Fury operating together.

The entire premise of Power Rangers Unlimited feels designed to celebrate the scale of the franchise, almost like a victory lap for the entire brand before the on-screen continuity is reset in the Power Rangers Disney+ reboot. Every generation of Rangers brought different powers, Zords, combat styles, and connections to the Morphin Grid. Combining heroes from multiple eras means Power Rangers Unlimited is assembling a treasure trove of distinct heroes into one unified force.

In many ways, it resembles the franchise’s equivalent of an all-star team, and Power Rangers Unlimited is arriving at the perfect moment for this. Instead of replacing the past like the Disney+ reboot, BOOM! Studios is actively celebrating it. For fans who grew up with different Ranger teams across different generations, making Power Rangers Unlimited among the most satisfying releases for long-time fans in years.

Power Rangers Unlimited Isn’t The Only 2026 Release That Will Excite Fans

As exciting as Power Rangers Unlimited already sounds, it is only one part of BOOM! Studios’ huge plans for 2026. A brand-new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series written by Marguerite Bennett debuts on June 3rd and will be a fresh starting point for readers. BOOM! has consistently succeeded when revisiting the original MMPR team because the comics allow deeper characterization than the Power Rangers TV show could always provide.

Then there is Power Rangers Green, written by Paul Allor and launching in August 2026. Unlike the wider ensemble focus of Power Rangers Unlimited, this series centers specifically on Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank). BOOM! has repeatedly shown that it understands why Tommy became such a phenomenon, balancing his larger-than-life status with the emotional struggles underneath. His new series, set in a future where he’s the last living Ranger, will lean even further into that emotional exploration while also honoring Jason David Frank’s legacy.

Combined together, these three releases make 2026 look like one of the strongest years Power Rangers comics have enjoyed in a very long time. Fans are getting a celebration of the franchise’s full history through Power Rangers Unlimited, a refreshed take on the original team with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and a Tommy Oliver-focused story in Power Rangers Green. All in all, BOOM! seems determined to show how rich with storytelling potential the Power Rangers universe still is after more than 30 years.
